Welcome back to the Austin Kids Retreat blog! With the cold weather really settling in these days, we figured what better topic to write about than the change of seasons. As the individuals caring for your little ones, we want nothing more than to know that we are fully prepared for anything that comes our way during the day. Whether that’s a significant drop in temperature or a full blown storm, the last thing that we want is for your child to go cold. That is why, in today’s blog, we are going to go over a few of the items that we suggest bringing in with your little one when they’re dropped off at daycare. Let’s get started.

Sweater

When it’s not incredibly chilly, a sweater is a nice piece of clothing to have because it provides just enough warmth to avoid shivers and goosebumps. Aside from that, sweaters are easy to take off and put on when a child is going from one extreme to the other. With that being said, sweaters aren’t always enough to keep kids warm. When temperatures are extremely low here in Austin, it takes a little more to give them that warmth they’re looking for, which brings us to our next item.

Jackets

On the days where temperatures are a little colder, a jacket is something that we love to see children come in with. This isn’t something that they have to wear all day long, of course, but it’s always nice to know that they have their jacket there in the case that they do get cold or we spend any time outdoors. While a sweater may seem like enough to keep them warm throughout the day, it doesn’t hurt to bring in a jacket even if they’re only wearing it from your car to the front entrance.

Hats and Gloves

These are another couple of items that may seem like a hassle to get on in the morning, especially when they’re not going to be wearing them all day, but we love seeing them come in. Given that little kids’ bodies are so much smaller, they get cold much quicker than we adults do, which is when these little accessories come in handy. A good hat to cover up the ears from the cool temperatures and a pair of gloves or mittens to keep fingers warm will go a long way when temperatures get low.
